I don’t know exactly when my love of photography began… maybe when I followed my mom all around school helping her take photographs for the yearbook or maybe when I took the only photography classes taught at Presbyterian College and made all my roommates become my models.  Thanks, girls!  After those classes, I did an independent study with my teacher, Jon Holloway, in Greenwood, SC.  I loved admiring his work and love his eye for photography.

In 2005 a good friend took the big risk and asked me to photograph her sister’s wedding.  Ever since, I’ve been hooked on wedding photography.  I love it!  It is such a priviledge and joy to be a part of EVERY part of a couple’s wedding day… the ins and outs, the chaos, the excitement, the beauty, the nervousness… everything.  

I am a wife and mother of two little girls and a baby boy.  I love trying to take their pictures.  Trying being the key word.  Sometimes, like most kids, they do all that they can to completely avoid my lens.  I am usually still up for the challenge, though, and it’s such a victory when I can get a good shot that really displays their personalities and captures an event or moment that I really want to remember.

So, I’m embarking on family and children’s photography.  It’s been the most scary to me!  Kids don’t usually enjoy sitting and smiling, but I’m finding that my favorite thing to do is just do what they do.  My style is to follow and let them lead the way.  I’m enjoying learning how to do this as it seems to me that the best pictures are taken when they are just being themselves.

We live in Spartanburg, SC and work with a college ministry at Wofford College (Go Terriers!)  I travel all throughout the state (and a few neighboring states) for weddings and am available for travel to Greenville for other children and family portraits.
